About the Award
Every year, the Swami Vivekananda Awards are conferred in three categories during the Bharatiya Youth Parliament to honor individuals who have made exemplary contributions to society. These prestigious awards are accorded to only 3 distinguished personalities who embody the values and ideals of Swami Vivekananda through their selfless service, commitment to peace building, and efforts in environmental protection.
The award aims to celebrate individuals who demonstrate the same spirit of service, strength, and dedication that Swami Vivekananda exemplified throughout his life. Recipients are selected through a transparent and merit-based process by a dedicated Selection Committee.
Environment
Recognizing outstanding contributions to environmental protection and sustainability
Selection Criteria:
- •Astounding work towards environmental protection
- •Water conservation, tree planting, river conservation and public awareness programmes
- •Inspiring contribution towards reducing air pollution, water pollution, noise pollution
- •Initiatives to reduce plastic usage
- •Sustainable development practices
Peace
Honoring efforts in promoting peace, harmony, and spiritual awakening
Selection Criteria:
- •Contribution towards spiritual awakening
- •Spreading message of peace and harmony
- •Promoting unity, brotherhood and religious harmony
- •Stimulating social harmony and peace
- •Value-oriented lifestyle promotion
Social Service
Celebrating selfless service to humanity and community development
Selection Criteria:
- •Contributed towards the development of humanity
- •Provided economic, legislative and other resources for the betterment of the elderly, children, women and differently abled
- •Support to patients and specially abled
- •Helped the needy during the pandemic and other times of requirement
- •Worked towards the upliftment of socially, economically and educationally backward communities
Selection Process
A dedicated Selection Committee comprising eminent personalities from academic, social, and cultural backgrounds, along with experienced members of the Bharatiya Youth Parliament organizing team, is responsible for evaluating nominations.
The committee ensures a transparent and merit-based selection process, identifying individuals whose work truly reflects the spirit of Swami Vivekananda's teachings. The committee functions independently and objectively for the selection of awardees.

Award Ceremony
The Swami Vivekananda Awards will be presented during the 2nd Bharatiya Youth Parliament event on 12th January 2026, commemorating the 163rd Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. The ceremony will be a highlight of the event, attended by dignitaries, youth leaders, and participants from across the country and around the world.
The award ceremony serves as an inspiration to all participants, encouraging them to follow in the footsteps of these exemplary individuals and contribute meaningfully to society, peace, and environmental protection.
BYP 2026 - Additional Awards
In addition to the Swami Vivekananda Awards, the Bharatiya Youth Parliament 2026 will recognize the outstanding contributions and performance of participating delegates and institutions through a series of special accolades.
Best Parliamentarians
Delegates demonstrating exceptional skill, discipline, and critical reasoning in debates will be honored, acknowledging their ability to articulate ideas, analyze complex issues, and contribute meaningfully to discussions.
Outstanding Teamwork & Leadership
Recognition for outstanding teamwork, leadership, and initiative, inspiring participants to strive for higher standards of civic responsibility and national service.
Social Awareness & Innovation
Special appreciation for delegates and institutions whose efforts in promoting social awareness, innovation, and community development have left a tangible impact.
